According to a new survey, a majority of American people are worried and angry about the size of US federal budget deficit.

On Thursday, a poll released on Fox News shows that 86 percent of respondents are worried or angry over the growing budget deficit.

Some 47 percent of participants said they believe President Barack Obama's federal spending freeze proposal is a trick and will not help to reduce the deficit.

The poll also found that those who voted have a gloomy outlook for the economy, as 56 percent say "the worst is yet to come."

On Monday, President Obama sent Congress a $3.8 trillion spending plan for fiscal year 2011. His proposal included a record $708 billion military budget. The new budget plan projects an increase in the federal deficit to a record $1.56 trillion this year.

In 10 years would add an additional $8.5 trillion to the national debt of the United States.

The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as a massive injection of cash to keep the wheels of the US economy rolling, have caused government spending to explode, while revenues have shrunk with the economy.
