The American Dream continues to evolve, more or less, into a nightmare.
American wars, American manipulation of governments, American espionage....Now the American notion of Human Rights has added another paragraph to its definition.
Forget the lyrics of freedom of speech and freedom of the press the US administration sings day and night. This time its cyber-freedom that the undemocratic "Democracy" is after.
Recently, the FBI is pressing internet service providers to keep records of which websites customers visit and retain those logs for 2 years.
FBI director Robert Mueller declared he supported storing internet users' "origin and destination" information during a federal task force meeting on Thursday.
It isn't the first time the FBI pushes for increased surveillance on internet activity. Mueller had called for retention of information on the part of ISPs as far back as 2006, and repeated his demand two years later demanding that congress make it mandatory.
Only last week, a survey of state computer crimes investigators found them to be unanimous in supporting the idea.
Federal regulations in place since 1986 oblige phone companies to retain data on calls for a period of 18 months. The data includes name, address, and telephone number of the caller, the telephone number called, date, time, and length of the call.
