"Israel's" cabinet decided on Tuesday to begin the distribution of individual protective kits which include gas masks among citizens in late February.
The cabinet said it will provide all of the nearly eight million "Israeli" populations with the kits in three years.
Based on a report published by "Israeli" daily Haaretz, at least 60 percent of the population who mostly live in northern areas will receive the kits.
According to sources, the "Israel" Postal Company, the national postal service, is tasked with delivering the kits in late February. However, millions of dollars need to be allocated to the project.
"Many things have been done since the Second Lebanon War. The cabinet decision last week is another step in this direction," a security source said. "It is not a sign of fear but of greater preparedness. Whoever is planning to fire missiles at "Israel" should know that we are ready to protect ourselves."
The regime distributed such kits among people during the first Gulf War in1991.
It ordered to provide the citizens with gas masks again during the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, but had to collect them five years ago as they began to expire.
